AN EXCITING BRIEF – a family photo shoot at home with a newborn baby and 13 months old twins.
The clients were looking for a photographer who could offer a family photo shoot at their home-the ideal setting for such an occasion.
Being a twin mother, I love taking photos of families with twins. This time I enjoyed the added challenge of photographing a Newborn and very happy toddler twin boys. The two hour session gave us enough time to interrupt the shoot a few times for a baby feed and a nappy change.
CONSULTATION
We had discussed at the initial consultation the different options and settings for the shoot, for example the sitting room, the parents’ bedroom and of course outdoors- the garden, or a park in the area. Another point to consider is the style the client wants to achieve, a more formal or fun effect with candid photos. I always take a mixture of photos starting with the newborn baby, the family photos and then the different combinations, mum and dad with the newborn baby and of course the shots of the siblings.
THE SHOOT
I have a flexible approach and I really enjoy seeing how the shoot develops; Often very funny and unexpected things happen, especially with 3 children under the age of 15 months. I am just an observer recording the quirky funny moments, for example when the twins had a great time messing around on mum’s and dad’s bed.
